This is a limited edition linocut print of a Woodcock.
The Woodcock is a secretive, mysterious bird. They sit, beautifully camouflaged amidst leaf litter and bracken, and are rarely seen. Their distinctive eyes sit high on their head and they use their long beaks to delve in the soft woodland floor for earthworms. The patterns on their wings are exquisite and varied and I enjoyed making the sketches for this print using feathers that I found in my garden. The bird was the victim of an unknown predator and I was greatly saddened by this find and wanted to create a print to commemorate this beautiful bird.
Each print is hand carved, hand printed and unique. Due to the nature of linocuts, each will vary slightly according the pressure, amount of ink and paper. It is printed on quality Fabriano paper with environmentally-friendly, water based ink. The colour is black.
Limited edition of 50 (plus 5 Artist's Proofs).
Paper size: 27 cm x 42 cm. It would fit an A3 frame.
Each print is signed, titled and numbered by the artist.
Each print is packed with cellophane and archival tissue, has a board backing, is carefully wrapped and posted flat in a stiff cardboard envelope.
