Snakeshead Fritillaries
Original Linocut
The snakeshead fritillary is one of the quiet marvels of the spring meadow - a rare native wildflower known for its extraordinary chequered petals and gently nodding heads. Elegant yet elusive, it has long been associated with ancient grasslands and places where nature is allowed to unfold at its own pace.
I was drawn to its sinuous lines and subtle movement, creating a print that celebrates both its delicacy and quiet strength.
This is a limited edition linocut of just 25 prints (plus 5 Artist’s Proofs), making it one of the smallest editions in my collection.
Each print is hand carved and carefully hand-burnished onto beautiful Japanese Kitakata paper, chosen for its softness, strength, and ability to hold the richness of the ink.
Printed in black using environmentally friendly water-based ink, every impression varies slightly — a natural result of the hand-printing process — ensuring that each piece is entirely unique.
