Quince among the leaves
This drawing began as a study of quince growing low among tangled branches and leaves, the heavy fruit catching the light beneath the canopy.
The work was drawn with a dip pen and Indian ink, allowing the line to move freely across the page — sometimes delicate, sometimes dark and expressive. Washes and splashes of ink build the shifting texture of foliage and shadow, while soft pastel has been added to the fruit, allowing the warm yellow-green of the quince to emerge quietly from t he monochrome surroundings.
Printed as a high-quality giclée reproduction from the original drawing, the print is signed by the artist and the print retains the fine detail of the pen line and the softness of the pastel colour.
This is one of a series of observational studies inspired by the abundance of late autumn in the garden and hedgerow.
This is a giclée print on Hahnemuhle 308gsm cotton Matt Fine Art Paper.
The print measures 21cm x 14cm and is printed on A4 paper.
