Old Orchard Apple Tree
This drawing was made from another of the old apple trees growing in my garden - remnants of what was once a Victorian orchard.
The branches are weathered and open with age, yet each year they still carry small apples among the leaves.
Drawn with a dip pen and Indian ink, the lines move freely across the page while washes of ink build the shifting foliage and light within the tree. The drawing captures both the structure of the branches and the quiet abundance of fruit that gathers in old orchard trees as the season turns.
Printed as a high-quality giclée reproduction from the original drawing, signed by the artist, the print preserves the expressive pen line and tonal ink washes of the original work.
This is one of a series of observational studies inspired by the abundance of late autumn in the garden and hedgerow.
This is a giclée print on Hahnemuhle 308gsm cotton Matt Fine Art Paper.
The print measures 21cm x 14cm and is printed on A4 paper.
