The Juniper Carpet Moth - Thera Juniperata
This is a rare species, restricted to a few scattered places throughout Britain, though it does turn up in gardens where cultivated varieties of juniper are grown.
It flies in late autumn and is attracted to light. As the English name suggests, it feeds mainly on juniper (Juniperus), but is possibly is adapting to other garden conifers. Like all late moths, the colouration is soft and muted but the marking intricate and exquisite.
