Sheltering among the Thorns is a mixed-media monoprint with hand painted collage, depicting a female blackbird nestled among the arching strands of wild rose in a winter hedgerow. Layered marks and printed textures show the barbed strands and the last leaves of autumn, forming a protective enclosure around the bird. It shows the hedgerow as a place of shelter and quiet resilience during the colder months.

It is painted on 300gsm Saunders Waterford paper and archival glue is used for the collage.
 
The painting measures 36.5cm x 28cm.
