Among the Apple Boughs
This drawing was made from an ancient apple tree growing in my garden - one of the last survivors of what was once a Victorian orchard.
Its branches are tangled and weathered with age, yet each autumn they still carry clusters of small red fruit among the leaves.
Drawn with a dip pen and Indian ink, the lines move freely across the page, tracing the twisting structure of the branches while loose ink washes suggest shifting foliage and shadow.
Printed as a high-quality giclée reproduction from the original drawing, the print is signed by the artist andthe print preserves the fluid ink lines and tonal washes of the original work.
This is one of a series of observational studies inspired by the abundance of late autumn in the garden and hedgerow.
This is a giclée print on Hahnemuhle 308gsm cotton Matt Fine Art Paper.
The print measures 21cm x 14cm and is printed on A4 paper.
