Root and Stone, Llangattock - A3 Giclée Print

Root and Stone, Llangattock

A mixed media study made on the Llangattock escarpment in the Brecon Beacons in early spring.

Drawn on location, this piece began with the structure of the tree—its branches still bare, but just beginning to carry the first signs of change. The limestone breaks through the surface here, shaping both the growth of the tree and the movement of the land around it. I was struck by the way the roots seemed to hold fast to the rock, as though gripping the hillside itself.

Worked in layers of drawing and colour, the piece reflects the shifting light and the exposed nature of the escarpment where wind, stone, and new growth meet.

This is a giclée print on Hahnemuhle 308gsm cotton Matt Fine Art Paper.

The print measures 29.7cm x 42cm (A3)
